Gearing Up for Transition to FORMS-H Application Forms

As announced over the summer, NIH requires the use of updated application forms (FORMS-H) for due dates on or after January 25, 2023. We will begin adding FORMS-H application packages to active funding opportunity announcements and FORMS-H application form instructions to the How to Apply – Application Guide page as early as October 25 to prepare for the transition.

Changes Coming to Applications and Peer Review in January 2025

Revisit Funding Opportunity Announcements Within 30 Days of the Due Date

Many NIH funding opportunity announcements (FOAs) have multiple due dates each year for up to three years. A lot can change over three years, so revisit your FOA within 30 days of your due date (pay extra attention to the Related Notices section) and you can ensure you are aware of the latest requirements before finalizing and submitting your application.

OMB Expiration Dates on Application Forms To Be Updated Soon

Grants.gov and NIH are working hard to complete preparations for our transition to FORMS-H application packages. Although we’ll be all set well before our January 25, 2023 due dates, you may see some forms in FORMS-H application packages that still show old expiration dates.
