Today, we seek your input to help us implement specific Advisory Committee to the NIH Director recommendations to re-envision the postdoctoral experience.
We are pleased to announce updates to Institutional Training Grant applications and required data tables, beginning with submissions due on or after January 25, 2025. The changes are intended to reduce applicant and reviewer burden, and further support the development of a biomedical research workforce that will benefit from the full range of perspectives, experiences and backgrounds needed to advance discovery.

As part of this commitment, we are pleased to announce stipend and childcare subsidy increases for the over 17,000 early career scholars supported on NIH Kirschstein National Research Service Awards.

NIH is pleased to announce revisions to the fellowship application and review process for grant submission deadlines on or after January 25, 2025. The changes are meant to improve the chances that the most promising fellowship candidates will be consistently identified by scientific review panels.

This month, NIH published the projected fiscal year 2017 stipend guidelines for postdoctoral trainees and fellows supported by National Research Service Awards (NRSAs). For NRSA-supported postdocs with less than one year’s experience, the stipend level will increase to $47,484. In keeping with the recommendation of the Biomedical Research Workforce Working Group of the NIH Advisory Committee to the Director, stipend levels then increase dependent on years of postdoctoral experience. ….
