Looking for a training to satisfy the requirement for investigators to complete training in financial conflict of interest (FCOI) regulations? NIH has developed a new training that institutions can use to help satisfy this need. This interactive training module allows for printing of a certificate at the end. Remember, as per the NIH Grants Policy Statement, institutions will require investigators to complete the training prior to engaging in NIH-supported research and at least every four years, and immediately under the designated circumstances:
- Institutional FCOI policies change in a manner that affects Investigator requirements
- An Investigator is new to an Institution
- An Institution finds an Investigator noncompliant with the Institution’s FCOI policy or management plan.
Is there an option to print the certificate of completion with the person’s name and date of completion? This posting states “This interactive training module allows for printing of a certificate at the end. ” However, we are only able to print the quiz results. Please advise. Thank you.
We apologize for the technical difficulties. The training modules work on all browsers, but to print your certificate please use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
I just completed this training and the system will not let me print the Certificate of Completion. What do I need to do to retrieve my certificate?
We apologize for the technical difficulties. The training modules work on all browsers, but to print your certificate please use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
Is this training captioned for deaf and hard of hearing people?
Yes, in the training there is a tab titled “Notes” on the left pane that provides the full transcript for each page.
Can any company who requires this training access this training? Who should I contact to discuss our needs?
The training module is available to everyone.
The link to the training appears to be broken. HELP
Hi Laura, there was a brief site outage but the link should be available once again. We apologize for the issue, and thank you for your interest in the training.
I thought the regulations (42 CFR Part 50) required the COI training to include an institutional specific component. By itself does this module meet the NIH COI Policy requirements or is the institution expected to supplement it?
Hi Renee, thanks for your comment. NIH has an FAQ regarding this requirement: https://grants.nih.gov/faqs#/financial-conflict-of-interest.htm?anchor=question52899
In particular: “Institutions may utilize resources available on NIH’s Office of Extramural Research Financial Conflict of Interest Web page found at http://grants.nih.gov/grants/policy/coi/ to satisfy some of the training requirements. However, Institutions must also provide additional training regarding Investigator’s responsibilities for disclosure of Significant Financial Interests and of the Institution’s specific policy on financial conflicts of interests.”
Hi, I just finished FCOI training module: https://grants.nih.gov/grants/policy/coi/tutorial2018/story_html5.html
but system did not allow to take Quiz. I used chrome. Please provide a link to the training module that allows to take quiz and to get certificate
Hello,
We are a non-profit, 501 C3, is the NIH FCOI training copyrighted or are we permitted to use it for our investigators?
You are welcome to use this training as you wish, in conjunction with additional training regarding your institution’s specific FCOI policy and process.
I have requested that 75 of our investigators complete the training and send me a copy of their certificates. They are using Chrome or Edge, however quite a few have sent me certificates with no name on them even though they typed in their names. They have found that the only way to get their name to print is to complete the training again, which is not a reasonable request.
