Announcing Community Days Webinars on Updated NIH Security Best Practices for Users of Genomic Controlled-Access Data

Posted

On January 25, 2025, NIH will implement an update for data management and access practices under the Genomic Data Sharing (GDS) Policy (see Guide Notices NOT-OD-24-157 and NOT-OD-25-021) which will affect researchers and institutional officials who access controlled-access data repositories subject to the GDS Policy. In preparation for the changes, NIH is hosting two information sessions on NIH security best practices for users of controlled access data for the research community on Wednesday January 8, 2025 and Friday January 10, 2025 from 10-11am ET.

These sessions are meant to provide users and their institutions with an overview of the Guide Notice “Implementing Update for Data Management and Access Practices Under the Genomic Data Sharing Policy.” Current users of NIH controlled-access data repositories maintaining data subject to the GDS Policy and institutional administrators involved in the use of controlled-access data subject to the NIH GDS Policy are encouraged to register for the webinars on Wednesday January 8 or Friday January 10.

At these sessions, NIH experts will provide an overview of changes and compliance requirements, discuss available resources, and answer any questions users and their institutions have. Attendees should submit any questions to [email protected] by December 27th to ensure answers are provided during the informational sessions. Event resources will be made available on the NIH Sharing site.
