Does your institution receive funding from the National Institutes of Health? Do you have responsibilities for monitoring compliance with the NIH Public Access Policy at an office, department, or institutional level?

The National Library of Medicine (NLM) seeks to improve their support to those monitoring compliance with the NIH Public Access Policy. We aim to better understand your compliance monitoring needs and what is required to effectively support your institution.

  1. It would be extremely helpful if the NIHMS could offer an institutional role that would allow designated individuals to provide more comprehensive support. For example, having the ability to review details for manuscripts that may have stalled at the initial step, or reflect a manual entry in My NCBI with minimal details. e.g., title, journal and NIHMS ID. This would be similar to the NIH Public Access Monitor that allows designated individuals to have an institutional view. It would save the Help Desk from having to respond to many emails that could be resolved if the individual had a more transparent, institutional view.
