The Research Misconduct webpage has been updated as part of our continued efforts to ensure integrity throughout NIH supported research activities. Users can learn more about:
- What constitutes research misconduct, which means falsification, fabrication, and/or plagiarism in proposing, performing, or reviewing research, or in reporting research results. It does not include honest error or differences of opinion.
- Expectations, policies, and requirements for the research community to promote integrity and address misconduct
- Various related notices, statements and reports from NIH and other federal and international partners
- Resources for instruction in the responsible conduct of research, including addressing conflicts of interest, responsible authorship, and research misconduct
Process for handling allegations of research misconduct received at NIH
