Cold Weather Blues? Think Spring and the 2018 NIH Regional Seminar in Washington, D.C.

Are you an investigator or research administrator new to working with the NIH grants process?  If so, then don’t let the 2018 NIH Regional Seminar on Program Funding and Grants Administration pass you by.  Registration is underway for the spring seminar in Washington, D.C. (May 2-4).  With only seminar planned for 2018, you won’t want to miss your opportunity to participate (Hint: these seminars routinely reach capacity prior to the event.)

Kick off your NIH Regional Seminar experience by attending one or two of the optional pre-seminar half-day workshops, such as Intellectual Property and iEdison, electronic Research Administration (eRA), or an Administrator’s Boot Camp. As a full-day option, the  and the NIH have collaborated to offer a workshop on Human Research Protections that is designed to help you get through the IRB approval process with skill.

During the two-day seminar, three tracks of concurrent sessions for administrators, investigators, and all interests cover over 45 different topics. You have the choice to stay in one track or customize your experience as you move between tracks based on the topics of interest.

  • Administrators’ Track – provides sessions that cover the latest grants policies and processes shared by NIH Policy and Grants Management officials, including topics like Budget Basics, Current Issues at NIH, Federal Policy Updates, Compliance Pitfalls and Strategies for Success, Advanced Administrative Topics, etc.
  • Investigators’ Track – offers step-by-step guide to mapping your career with NIH and assistance with understanding the process. Gain a better understanding of the NIH Peer Review Process with our Mock Study Section session.
  • All Interest Track – includes a variety of special topic options like Rigor and Reproducibility, Public Access, Clinical Trials, Research Integrity, Biosketch & SciENcv, Animals in Research, Human Subjects Research, and more.

NIH and HHS Experts Available to Meet One-on-One with You!

During the 2-day seminar, you’ll have the opportunity to make appointments to see as many of our NIH and HHS experts as you’d like in order to get your questions answered.  Program, Grants, Review and Policy officials will be on-hand for 15 minute chats by appointment….just with you.  This unique opportunity is often mentioned as one of the most valuable aspects of the seminar by past attendees.

Registration Rates & Trainee Discount!

All potential attendees can save with the General Registration Rate – but don’t delay because this rate ends Friday, March 16 (Hotel rooms are also available at a reduced rate but are filling fast!)  In addition, graduate students and postdocs can take advantage of a special $50 trainee discount throughout the registration period – as long as space is available!
