Dive Deep Into Special Grants Policy Topics at Our One-day Workshops

Posted

By now you’ve hopefully heard all about the NIH Regional Seminars and the opportunities offered during this two-day meeting on program funding and grants administration. (If not, check out this Open Mike blog post on our 2016 seminars!)

However, did you know that attendees can also attend an optional workshop to dive deep into special topics? Both our Baltimore and Chicago 2016 seminars offer the following optional workshops:

  • Human Research Protections: a full-day, CME-accredited workshop providing you with the info necessary to have NIH grant applications and research protocols pass review for human research protections. It will focus on clarifying confusions and providing participants with practical tips and solutions to problems and difficulties commonly encountered during such reviews.
  • Administrator’s Boot Camp: an introductory level, hands-on workshop for research administrators new to applying to NIH. Sessions will provide in depth information on the basics of the pre-award process — highlighting key activities, timelines, considerations, and resources. Starting from the very beginning of the pre-award process through the time of award, topics will include registration, identifying funding opportunities, using the application guides, and understanding the Notice of Award.
  • eRA Workshops (pre-award and post-award): two half-day workshops on using electronic Research Administration (eRA) systems; one focused on grant application preparation & submission, the other on eRA Commons account administration & post-submission processing.
  • Intellectual Property-Understanding Requirements and Recipient Responsibilities: this beginner to intermediate-level workshop is designed for sponsored program and technology transfer professionals. Participants will gain an understanding of intellectual property, the Bayh-Dole Act, inventions reporting via iEdison, and other award recipient responsibilities as they relate to intellectual property and federal grant funding.
  • Intellectual Property-A Hands-on Demonstration of iEdison: this intermediate to advanced-level workshop will provide participants with a demonstration of Interagency Edison (iEdison), with an emphasis invention and patent reporting, and administration of the patent rights clauses in Federal funding agreements.
