February Application Due Date Changes to Accommodate System Upgrades

Posted

Grants.gov – the portal for grants submission across all Federal agencies, including NIH – is planning an upgrade to support the use of special characters, such as Greek symbols, in free-text fields such as project titles. To make this upgrade, Grants.gov will be down over the Presidents Day weekend from Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 12:01 AM ET to Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 6:00 AM ET.

Consequently, NIH has made some adjustments to application due dates. Due dates that fall on or between February 13 and February 18, 2015 will move to February 19, 2015. Included in that time frame are the standard February 16 due date for new R03, R21, R33, R21/R33, R34, and R36 applications, and the special due dates for 15 funding opportunity announcements.

The good news is that following the upgrade, special characters will be permitted in the name and project title fields of your application. (You may recall that last year eRA systems were upgraded to support Unicode as well.)

See NOT-OD-15-057 and NOT-OD-15-058 for more information on the system upgrade and February due date adjustments.
