Opportunities for Collaborative Clinical and Translational Science: Enhancing Clinical Phenotyping

Posted

Date: Tuesday, September 28, 2010

Location: Bethesda, MD

NIH’s National Center for Research Resources Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) program and the Veterans Health Administration will sponsor a one-day workshop designed to encourage collaboration and resource sharing among members of the Department of Veterans Affairs and the CTSA consortium.

To better understand how diseases function and spread, translational scientists need proper tools and resources. Evolving approaches that use electronic health records, biorepositories and genotyping can create new opportunities for clinical phenotyping.

This one-day workshop will convene genetics and genomics researchers, informatics specialists, pharmacologists, and many others to discuss collaborative research opportunities and ways to share critical resources. Participants will learn about resources that the Veterans Health Administration has implemented to support data-intensive studies and can join in panel discussions on current and future collaborative research opportunities.
