Hugely Successful OLAW Seminars Viewable Online

Posted

The first seminar on June 12, titled “Preparing for Animal Rights Extremist Activities at Your Institution,” was so popular that it had even more would-be registrants than the Web cast could accommodate. However, those unable to attend live are not out of luck. Archives of the seminars are viewable at the OLAW Outreach Web site.

The electronic format of the seminars provides participants timely, relevant, and interactive communication on animal care and use issues. This cost-effective means of educational outreach enables compliance oversight personnel, veterinarians, IACUC members, Institutional Officials, and other personnel at Public Health Service-Assured institutions increased understanding of their responsibilities in the humane care and use of research animal subjects. The next OLAW seminar, on Freedom of Information Act Policies, is scheduled for September 18.

Because of the overwhelming positive response to the seminars, OLAW is now working to expand capacity and consolidate demand so that they can serve even more stakeholders.  As information becomes available, updates will be posted on the OLAW Outreach Web site.
