From Philly to Portland, the NIH Regional Seminar Draws a Crowd

Posted

Held twice a year, the NIH Regional Seminars provide the NIH extramural research community with unparalleled expertise in a centralized location–without an actual visit to the NIH campus. Consider joining NIH and your peers at the final NIH Regional Seminar of 2010 to be held in Portland, Oregon June 24-25. Check out the event Web site for registration, hotel, program, and surrounding area information. Registration has been extended to June 4, but don’t let time run out, register now!

In April, the City of Brotherly Love provided a perfect gathering spot for over 600 attendees from around the world. During the seminar, attendees interacted with 30 NIH and HHS experts from policy makers to program, review and grants management staff. Breakfast topics, faculty-assigned lunch tables, and information booths provided additional opportunities for attendees to network with one another and get their questions answered in a small group setting.

The day before the seminar, electronic Research Administration (eRA) staff members taught optional computer workshops that provided beginners with a hands-on experience using the eRA Commons. The sold-out workshops focused on how to use the electronic systems to facilitate application/grant administration, and will again be offered in Portland, prior to the seminar, on Wednesday, June 23.

More information and ListServ subscription instructions can be found on the NIH Regional Seminar home page. Watch these resources as well as the NIH Guide for announcements of the 2011 Regional Seminar locations coming soon.
