xTrain Expands to K Awards and NLM Training Grants

Posted

Previously available only for Kirschstein-NRSA research training grants, such as T32s, the xTrain system speeds up the NIH approval process and reduces the chance of data entry errors associated with paper appointment forms. In addition, once a training appointment has been initiated in xTrain, the system provides institutional and NIH users with an ongoing record of its status.

Since xTrain is open to all institutions registered with the eRA Commons, no special steps are required to begin using the system. To get started, PD/PIs and administrators should review the information on the eRA Commons xTrain page, and follow the steps described. Where useful, PD/PIs may wish to explore the option of delegating their xTrain authority to an assistant or departmental administrator.

For new users who would like to try out the xTrain system and learn about its features in a sample environment, xTrain is also now available in the Commons Demo site. Further xTrain assistance is available from the eRA Commons Help Desk.
